8.11.2024 Medvedev before the final match with Fritz: It’s just crazy that so far we’ve only played each other once

Daniil Medvedev shared his mood for the sixth final tournament in his career. Probably, if in 2018, when I had not yet participated, they told me that I would get here six times in a row, I would have answered: Wow! How? You need to win Masters and perform well at Slams. At that time I had not yet done this, although I was improving. So I`m very happy to be on our site and I`m really looking forward to the tournament.
Medvedev will begin the final match against Taylor Fritz, against whom he won his only personal meeting in 2022.
It`s just crazy because Taylor and I have both been in the top 10 for about three years now and we came on tour at about the same time and only played each other once.
Also in Ilie Nastase`s group were Jannik Sinner (7:7 with Medvedev) and Alex de Minaur (6:3 in favor of Medvedev).
To beat Yannick, you need to play flawlessly. Stay focused from start to finish, wear him down and make him work. If you can`t do all these things from the beginning, he will control the match and his rhythm will be difficult to break. He is a very, very difficult opponent, especially on our site in Italy.
I`ve known Alex for a long time. I always thought he was a great player.
