The NHL and the union will discuss raising the salary cap to $95-97 million. The current cap is $88 million. It was increased last summer by 5. 4% - before that the level was $83. 5 million.  
According to the collective agreement, the salary cap can increase by a maximum of 5% from year to year.
More significant increases are possible but must be further agreed upon by the league and the Players Association. In this case, the ceiling amount may increase by 8-10%.  
According to Sportsnet insider Elliott Friedman, NHL revenues are growing at a faster pace, which allows them to overcome the consequences of financial losses associated with the coronavirus pandemic.  
It is noted that if the parties decide not to exceed the 5% mark, then the salary cap next season will be about $92. 5 million.
The current collective bargaining agreement expires in the fall of 2026.
