F1 has adopted several amendments to the championship regulations.
The FIA statement notes that based on the results of the meeting of the Formula 1 Commission, some innovations and adjustments to the regulations will be made.
In light of problems with overheating of drivers at last year`s Qatar Grand Prix, F1 decided to introduce the use of a special cooling kit. It is noted that the results of the tests were found encouraging and the kit will be used if necessary in the 2025 season.
The starting grid regulations have also been revised in case a team withdraws its driver from the race before it starts. Previously, the place of such a pilot at the start remained empty, but now the starting order in this case will shift.
It is noted that in addition to this, the F1 Commission discussed the idea of holding a sprint race for beginners in Abu Dhabi, but the format and conditions require significant improvements. Discussions of all the conditions for holding such a sprint race will continue in 2025, the debut sprint will take place no earlier than 2026.
In addition, noticeable progress has been made in the formation of the technical regulations of Formula 1, which should come into force from the 2026 season. It will be finally approved at the next meeting of the FIA World Council, which will be held in 2025.
