Piastus called the potential competitor to McLaren in Japan. The McLaren pilot shared his opinion on Friday practices of the Japanese Grand Prix, where he showed the 15th time in the first session and the best in the second-which was interrupted by red flags four times.
Due to the shifted asphalt, it was not easy for part of the highway and gusty wind. With a strong wind, the car does not behave the same in two circles in a row - so the day came out difficult.
The second practice was constantly interrupted, so it was difficult to enter the rhythm, but by the end of the day I felt quite comfortable. We still have to configure something. Something I was satisfied, but in general it was not the simplest sessions. In the first practice, it was difficult to extract a pace from a car. The second training went better.
Mercedes seems fast, I simply could not extract the speed from the software. After such sessions, it is difficult to judge by data. I am sure that we have a good pace that will last for the remaining weekend-but we need to stay on the alert, ”said Piast.
